It sat there, decades later, a silent reminder of all I had
lost that day.
The children ran around it, knowing nothing of the sorrow,
the blood, the death. Knowing nothing of
the innocence I lost so that they could remain.
It sat there, overgrown with trees, a silent reminder of the
price I paid.
